Patagonia is the name given to the southern corner of South America, covering a part of Argentina and Chile. This region is world known as one of the most wild and intact areas still remaining.
The name "Patagonia" has its origin in the physical appearance of the native indians found by early spanish sailors. In spanish, "pata" means "big foot", a characteristic of those native tribes. Patagonia is "the land of the men with the big feet".
Nowadays, Patagonia offers a wide variety of landscapes, including mountains represented by the Cordillera de Los Andes, that divides Chile from Argentina, as well as some of the most impressive non-tropical rain forests in the world. In this land, carved by glaciers (many of the are still present), the rugged valleys are sourrounded by fjords in the chilean portion, and the magnificent Patagonian steppe, in southern Argentina.
PatagoniaWaters.com is a related site to RiosySenderos.com, which the most visited flyfishing web site in spanish. After a few years dedicating full efforts to the Latin-America and European market, it became a clear step to take, to launch an english site.
RiosySenderos.com is a private company directed by: Rodrigo Sandoval (editor and general manager), Carlos Correa (director), Patricio Guerra (director), Franco Lama (director), and Franz Scheel (director). PatagoniaWaters.com is edited and mantained by the same editorial team.
